Principles

  1. Develop musical imagination by practicing to a wide variety of music.
  2. Counts one and three (especially one) are accented in Cha Cha by giving them more time. Take the step and do not start the foot moving for the next step immediately. Keep pressure between both feet and the floor at all times. The floor is your best friend. Stay connected.
  3. Lower grade dancers do not vary timings enough. This choreography helps to correct that weakness.
  4. Four types of lead:
  5. Weight change
  6. Physical
  7. Shaping
  8. Visual
  9. Keep the compression between the torso and hips. When a hip lifts, the same shoulder compresses down toward it. This alternating compression should always be invisible, but the effects of it obvious.
