Advanced Rumba: Figures 1-7 of Gold Routine

Jive: Review of the stages of development from Bronze Mooch to Gold Flick Across

Waltz: Syncopated Natural Spin Turn (123 1&2), Reverse Pivot (3); Progressive Chasse to R
Follower’s Syncopation is a Chene Turn.
Three Mechanisms for Stopping
1. When up, go higher; When down, go lower
2. Side steps are better for checking (“Subway surfing”)
3. When going forward, leave something back. When going back, leave something forward.
Reverse Pivot is not stationary. Move the vehicle before trying to turn it.
Quickstep timing: SQQ SSS; S SQQS

Foxtrot Group
1. Feather Step or Feather Finish into corner SQQ
2. LF Walk S
3. Lunge to R S
4. Drag (out of corner) S
5. Reverse Pivot S
6. Progressive Chasse to R with Weave Ending SQ&Q QQQQ

Advanced Quickstep
Step-Hop and Pepperpot (S&; Q&Q QQ): Practice repetitively forward and backward

Fall Newcomer
Review W and Q with arms held above the imaginary water line in the room
Tango Technique
1. Sharp head turn to and from PP
2. Two Line Figures: Step 4 of Natural Promenade Turn is a Right Lunge (sideward, DC) and Step 3 of the Rock is a Spanish Drag
Foxtrot
1. Feather Step SQQ
2. Reverse Turn SQQ SQQ
3. Three Step SQQ
4. 1-3 Natural Turn SQQ
5. Closed Impetus SQQ
6. Feather Finish SQQ
Rumba
1. After Natural Top, add Opening Out to R and L
2. Use the free arm, especially the “New York arm”

Intermediate Quickstep
1. Underturned Natural Spin Turn in corner SQQ SSS
2. 2-8 of Overturned V6, end facing DC QQSSQQS
3. Quick Open Reverse SQQ
4. Four Quick Run SQQQQS
Follower should exaggerate the diagonal pitch of her body while maintaining a level shoulder line.

Rumba/Cha Cha
1. Change the spacing between the leader’s and follower’s bodies constantly.
2. Do not exaggerate leads. Keep them compact. Changes of pressure are more effective than movements of the connected hands.
3. Keep the eyes level. Watch each other in practices to keep each other honest.
Samba
1. Reverse Turn 3 Bars

3. Plait (twice) SSQQS SSQQS
4. Lady’s Spot Volta 1a2
5. Corta Jaca, turning to R 1 2&3&4&; 1 2&3&4&

Samba Technique
1. Practice changing the spacing figures 1-3
2. The Plait requires the Follower’s right side to alternate between moving away and toward the Leader. Therefore, the connection alternates between a pull and a push and changes levels.

Spring Newcomer
Waltz and Quickstep with Rise and Fall
Review Tango
Rumba: Show two straight legs on every step. The moving knee should bend to create a “figure four” shape as it passes under the body.
Rumba/Cha Cha: Extend the free arm on all possible figures.
Jive
1. Basic Movement
2. Under Arm Turn to R
3. Under Arm Turn to L
4. Basic Movement
Keep the steps small so the position does not get overstretched.
