Rumba/Cha Cha Technique
- Get on foot in ½ beat, then reserve second half of the beat for hip action. Fast feet, then slow hips.
- Keep both feet in contact with the floor at all times.
- Turn the “bottle” on most steps (turn the hips while leaving the shoulders unturned). On NY’s turn the “cap” (the torso). In NY’s the feet are in 4th position, turned out equally. As an exercise, touch your partner’s back hand with your back hand on NY’s.
Samba: Reverse Turn
- No foot swivel.
- Use subtle bounce action.
- Above all, show the timing distinctions: 1a2.
