Advanced Standard

  1. Review Waltz group in Quickstep:
    1. Progressive Chasse to R   SQQS
    2. Outside Change to PP       SQQ
    3. Chasse from PP                SQQS
    4. 1-3 Natural Turn               SQQ
  2. Three responsibilities for the sides of the body
    1. Keep the sides up, including the sides of the neck
    2. Use the sides actively: stretch, rotate, sway
    3. Coordinate the stretch and activity of your sides with your partner’s sides at all times.
  3. Increase foot pressure on one side to cause the side to rise to lead all turns to PP.
  4. Right turns to PP: Leader turns torso, follower turns base/head (Prog Link, Op Impetus)
    Left turns to PP: Vice versa (Outside Change to PP, Op Telemark, Whisk at corner)
  5. Wet sock on the inside of the dryer: The person on the inside of the turn uses the centrifugal force of turns to swing his/her partner by.

Advanced Latin

  1. Review the NY to Swivel Walks in Rumba and Cha Cha with almost violent emphasis on the closing of the hips to partner in the walks.
  2. Cruzados Walks and Lock with interlocked arms
    1. Use pelvic action to collect the foot on every step
    2. Master all possible directions of back action: sideward, forward and backward, rotational, circular and pelvic contraction
  3. Samba Group:

  2. Waltz: Quarter Turns (Four measures, turning right on bar two and left on bar four)
    Use the box step at corners, turning ¼ to left to face the diagonal wall on the new line of dance.
  3. Quickstep now has three figures:
    1. Quarter Turn to R                 SQQS
    2. Progressive Chasse              SQQS
    3. Forward Lock (no turn)      SQQS

Intermediate Latin

Rumba/Cha Cha

  1. Clarity in all movements and figures. Do not turn early at any time.
  2. Keep sides and abs toned
  3. Keep follower’s arm in front of her throughout under arm turns
  4. Stay aware of the insides of the legs and feet at all times

Samba

  1. Bronze Shadow section
